WEEE Recycling Regulations:

If you didn’t already know, the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive is now a UK law. The new legislation is basically supposed to make the producers pay for the collection, treatment and recovery of waste electrical equipment. That also means suppliers in the high street shops or even internet e-shops should like their customers to return old products back to them free of charge. This is better than a customer simply dumping the item in the bins & causing landfill.

For example, many customers return old laptops to T&M Reuse Yorkshire and pay nothing for collection. When we collect the items, we either: safely dispose of them , refurbish them for reuse or refer them to specialists. We’re just one of the many thousands of government licensed businesses helping to keep the environment safe.

Did you know we throw away an extra 5-10% of WEEE goods each increasing year? That makes it the fastest growing waste stream in the UK.

What are some benefits of WEEE recycling? :
– Reduces landfill waste
– Helps prevent build up of lead, toxins where they can cause soil and water contamination. This can have a harmful effect on natural habitat, wildlife and also human health.
– Keeps the Industry alive (there is always a job to do!)

Here at T&M Reuse Yorkshire, many of the items collected can be repaired for re-usem such as computers, printers, flat screen TVs, office equipment and even consumer goods.

But don’t forget that , whenever you see the SYMBOL BELOW:

It means they have been produced after 2005, and must be disposed of separately from normal household waste, so they can be recycled.
